Since the invention of the roller shutter drive, the drives have become smaller and more powerful, are equipped with electronic components for easy end position adjustment and obstacle detection, have an integrated radio system for wireless control and can be integrated into modern smart home systems.
On the other hand, the 55 years since the invention have not been enough to make electric drives for roller shutters and awnings the standard. The majority of roller shutters are still equipped with a belt or a hand crank for laborious manual operation.
